Major development: Industrial Engineering at Qingdao University of Technology was initiated in 1999, which was one of the first 20+ universities in China to set up industrial engineering major. In 2010, it was granted the right to award full-time master’s degree in industrial engineering. In 2019, it began to cultivate master of professional in industrial engineering and management under the MEM program. In 2016, it was selected as one of the supporting majors of the high-level application-oriented undergraduate specialty group in Shandong Province. The Industrial Engineering Branch of China Mechanical Engineering Society has set up the first industrial engineer qualification examination training center of Shandong Province in our university.
Major Features: Industrial Engineering undergraduate major program lasts for four years and is awarded with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. This major aims to cultivate students to adapt to the needs of national economic and social development, master the basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills of modern industrial engineering and management science, have good moral character, innovation awareness, teamwork, international vision, good communication and lifelong learning ability, master solid basic mathematical knowledge and mechanical engineering knowledge, and be able to comprehensively use professional knowledge to solve the efficiency of production and service systems quality, cost and other management and engineering comprehensive problems, and to be high-quality composite engineering and technical personnel who can engage in planning and design, operation management, analysis and evaluation, improvement and innovation in manufacturing, service and other related fields.

Faculty: Industrial Engineering department has an excellent full-time faculty team with rich experience, reasonable professional title and age structure. This major currently has 11 full-time faculty members including 1 professor, 5 associate professors and 5 lecturers，in which 10 hold PhDs and 8 are graduate supervisors.
Research and award: Focusing on modern industrial engineering, logistics engineering, human factors engineering, innovation management and other fields, the faculty have carried out a series of teaching and scientific researches, undertook more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial projects. They have been regularly supported by grants from various research projects funded by governments and enterprises. The number of the annual research contracts and grants and published academic papers are increasing. The faculty have won 5 national, provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards.
Employment: Graduates of this major have high employment quality and are favored by enterprises. The main employment channels are in domestic manufacturing enterprises of electronic, electrical appliances, machinery and automobiles. In the early stage after graduation, most of them are engaged in basic workshop management, production system management, lean production, quality management and other work; About 5 years after graduation, most of them have grown into department backbones and supervisors, engaged in technical management of enterprise production systems, etc. At the same time, a large number of outstanding graduates continue their studies in universities at home and abroad.
